Michael Holland started dancing at the age of 5 under the tuition of Ann Richens and John Timm at the Richens/Timm Academy of Irish dance. With his Grandfather coming from County Donegal, his mom Kathleen danced for Ann Richens along with her 6 siblings; she enrolled Michael and his siblings to continue that tradition. Michael quickly progressed as a dancer winning his first Mid-America Regional title at the age of 8. Since then, Michael has won 8 Mid-America Regional titles, 5 North American Titles, and 2 All Ireland titles, as well as the Gerry Campbell Senior Perpetual Belt. After twice finishing 2nd place at the World Championships, in 2012 Michael achieved the highest honor in Irish Dance, the title of Senior Men’s World Champion. After retiring from competition, Michael now teaches in Ohio and Michigan with Regan Rankin Holland and O’Kennedy Holland Irish Dance Academies. When Michael is not teaching, he has enjoyed performing especially with the Irish super group Cherish the Ladies for the past 15 years.
