Kate Purcell hails from County Clare and is a singer and guitar player. Growing up with musicians such as, Seattle/Chicago based, Fiddle virtuoso Martin Hayes as her neighbour, her early influences were mainly Irish Folk, but she also developed a love for contemporary styles particularly a blend of Blues and American Country. Kate began her musical career at local venues and secured a residency at Dromoland Castle Hotel where she still entertains regularly.
She has been played extensively on Folk and Traditional programmes on Irish Commercial Stations, has been featured by RTE Radio and she appeared on TV programs including “KennyLive”, “PM Live”, “Open House”, “Limelight”, “Geanntraí”, “Síbin”, and “Bernie Beo”. She has also been featured on RTE In the United Kingdom “Shadows of You” is played regularly on BBC Local Stations and is a big favourite on the Mike Harding Show on BBC Radio 2. One of her tracks “ Dress of Green” figured in a Listeners Top Ten Most Requested songs and she was among those short listed for the BBC 2 Folk Awards.
On the Contemporary Scene one single was released commercially. From her first album “ A Dream Unfolds” a limited run of “You Never Said Goodbye” was pressed. This was playlisted on RTE Radio 2, which is a National Station aimed at the younger age group and the single spent 5 weeks in the Charts. “Savannah” was a major Radio hit and was named Single of the Fortnight on two occasions by Ireland’s rock bible Hotpress Magazine. Her albums have also won her awards from Irish Music Magazine, Live Ireland.com and the Chicago Irish American News.
With her gorgeous voice she has been she has shared the stage with notable top acts including Cherish the Ladies, Lunása, Mairin Fahy and The 4 of Us, touring Ireland, Holland, England and the USA.
